Annapurna Base Camp Trek is a stunning trek in Nepal which witnesses the Grand Annapurna massif from its closet view possible. The 360 degree summit view includes Mt. Fishtail, Mt. Hiunchulli, Mt. Gangapurna, Mt. Annapurna Main (8091 mtrs) , Annapurna South, Annapurna iii and many more. Nepal treks does not require camping, all the stays are in Tea Houses with basic amenities. This trek is not suggested for 1st timers however extremely fit candidates may apply.
The only backdraw of this trek is enormous numbers of staircases which you have climb up and down everyday !
Today is your day 1 of the trek when you will be reporting at Pokhra in Nepal. Take your time and reach our designated hotel at Pokhra.
Over night stay at a guest house in 3/4 persons sharing basis.
Pokhra is a beautiful town by the side of famous Phewa Lake. After freshening up, have a lake side walk, enjoy local dishes and go for your last minute shopping for trek necessary items.
Have an early dinner and rest your body to embark on the next 8 days hectic journey.
Only Hotel accommodation is provided by us in a lakeside guest house with 3/4 persons sharing room with attached bathroom and hot shower.
After obtaining permit, Pokhra to Jhinu danda (6000 ft) in a shared car. Approx 3 hours drive.
Jhinu danda to Chhomrong (7200 ft) trek. Approx 3 kms – 2 hours.
Start your trek from Jhinu Danda, known for its natural hot springs. The trail initially descends to the Modi Khola (river). After crossing the river on a suspension bridge, the trail ascends through terraced fields and small settlements. The trek continues to Chhomrong, a picturesque Gurung village with stunning views of Annapurna South and Machapuchare (Fishtail). The descent and ascent involve walking through forests and stone-paved steps.
This segment of the trek offers a mix of terraced fields, forests, and cultural experiences in local villages.
Chhomrong (7200 ft) to Dovan (8500 ft) trek.
Approx 9 kms – 6/7 hours.
After having a healthy breakfast, we depart from Chhomrong, a beautiful Gurung village, and start descending towards the Chhomrong Khola (river). Cross the Chhomrong Khola using a suspension bridge. post crossing the river, ascend to Upper Sinuwa followed by Lower Sinuwa, passing through dense forests and enjoying views of the surrounding landscapes.
Then we descend to Bamboo, a small settlement surrounded by bamboo forests. The trail takes you through rhododendron and oak forests. Continue further to Dovan.
The trek involves both ascents and descents, and you’ll be walking alongside the Modi Khola. Dovan is a resting point before heading to Deurali and ultimately Annapurna Base Camp.
This segment of the trek offers a mix of terrains, including forests, river crossings, and charming villages. As with any trek in the region, it’s crucial to be prepared, follow the trail markers.
Dovan (8500 ft) to Deurali (10500 ft) trek.
Approx 5 kms – 5/6 hours.
Begin your trek from Dovan, a small settlement. The trail continues alongside the Modi Khola, and you’ll ascend gradually. Pass through the Himalaya, another trekking lodge area. The trail involves ascending and descending through the forested path.
Continue trekking to Deurali, which is situated at a higher elevation. The trail can be rocky, and you’ll be walking in the shadows of towering peaks.
This section of the trek is characterized by its alpine environment and stunning views of the surrounding mountains. It’s important to be mindful of the altitude gain, follow the trail markers, and be aware of weather conditions.
Deurali (10500 ft) to Annapurna Base Camp (13550 ft) via Machhapuchhare Base Camp (12000 ft).
Approx 7 kms – 6/7 hours.
The trek from Deurali to Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) is the final leg of the Annapurna Base Camp trek in Nepal.
Start from Deurali and continue the ascent towards Annapurna Base Camp. The trail takes you through a valley surrounded by towering peaks.
En route, you’ll pass through Machapuchare Base Camp, a notable landmark with stunning views of the iconic Fishtail Mountain.
Continue the ascent until you reach Annapurna Base Camp. This high-altitude destination offers a spectacular panoramic view of the Annapurna Massif, including Annapurna I, Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, and other surrounding peaks. Witness a magnificent sunset and sunrise next morning when the Sun enlights its golden and pink rays upon the Eight thousanders.
The trek from Deurali to Annapurna Base Camp is characterized by alpine landscapes, glacial moraines, and a sense of achievement as you reach the base of some of the world’s highest peaks. As always, trekking at higher altitudes requires proper acclimatization, and it’s advisable to be well-prepared and carry essential gear.
Annapurna base Camp (13550 ft) to Bamboo (7200 ft) trek.
Approx 14 kms trek – 7/8 hours.
The trek from Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) to Bamboo is the descent back along the trail of the Annapurna Base Camp trek in Nepal via MBC, Deurali, Himalaya, Dovan.
Bamboo is surrounded by bamboo forests and provides a pleasant resting point.
The descent offers a different perspective of the landscape, and you may notice details that you missed on the way up. Ensure that you take your time during the descent, especially on steeper sections, to avoid putting excessive strain on your knees.
Bamboo (7200 ft) to Jhinu (6000 ft) trek.
Approx 10 kms trek – 6/7 hours.
This descent covers a variety of landscapes, from alpine environments to bamboo forests and small settlements. Take your time, enjoy the scenery, and be cautious on the downhill sections. come back via the same trail of Upper Sinuwa, Lower Sinuwa, Descend down to Chomrong Khola, ascend till Chomrong and finally a steep descent till Jhinu.
A well deserved resting place after the hectic and strenuous trek and soak into the hot spring to wash of your tiredness.
Jhinu to Jhinu Danda trek down. Approx 1 kms – 1 hours.
Jhinu Danda to Pokhra drive. Approx 3 hours.
Overnight stay at Pokhra.
We further descend to Jhinu Danda , cross the Modikhola suspension bridge and take a drive back to Pokhra.
A night of celebration at Pokhra for our successful summit to ABC.
After a scrumptious breakfast, we leave for our onward journey with a bag full of memories to cheer forever.
