Brahmataal Trek in Uttarakhand is one of the most popular treks in India. A perfect blend of adventure and scenic beauty, this trek should not be missed. It is an ideal trek for beginners who dares to trek on the snow covered routes and bear minus temperature colds. From shadowy forest to vast meadows to snow covered lake side camps, this trek is a gem for all.
The magnificent lake stands at towering altitude of 12000 feet with Mt. Trishul and Mt. NandaGhunti as backdrop. Sighting an alpine lake in dense forest is a rare sight, still this trek holds such 2 beautiful alpine lakes Brahmataal and Bekaltaal. A perfect trek in winter, you will experience blanket of snow under pine forests with mighty Himalayan peaks towering at the backdrops.
The temperature here in this trek in winter hovers between 5-15 degree during day time and drops till -10 degree during night. Though this trek is an easy to moderate grade trek which means there will be few patches of steep climb with longer duration than an easy trek. Our expert trek leading team will ensure your comfortable trek with utmost safety and precaution.
We shall pick you up from Rishikesh at 8 am. Rishikesh to Lohajung by shared sumo/bolero/tempotraveller vehicle. 200 kms approx. 8-10 hrs journey.
Lohajung is a beautiful small village located in Kumaon region of Himalayas and you can witness beautiful sunset over Mt. Nanda ghunti from here. Locals believe that Goddess Parvati had a war (Jung in Hindi) here with Demon ‘Lohasur” here, hence the name Lohajung.

Lohajung (7600 ft) to Gujreni (9200ft) (5 kms – 4 hours)
Today we start our trek from Lohajung village. After a healthy and scrumptous breakfast we walk through villages and forest trails to reach our next campsite. After mandoli village keep ascending highet to witness confluence of kali and Pindari rivers. You are now in the beautiful Kali valley. The next part of trails passes through thick Rhododendron and Oak forest. Our campsite at Gujreni will be covered between thick forest beside Gujreni stream. The campsite is a great sport for bird watching.
Overnight stay in tents.
Gujreni (9200 ft) to Brahmataal (10500 ft) via Jhandi top (11150 ft) (5 kms – 4 hours )
As we leave our campsite, you will walk through the pine and oak forest. After a while you will climb to the ridge on the left side and walk on it. Shortly you will notice the mesmerazing valley below it and the beautiful Bekal Taal. Oak forest will be taking over from here and a maginificent panaroma of Mt. trishul and Mt. nanda Ghunti along with their surrounding peaks will awestruck you.You can see the entire strech of Ali Bedini Bugiyal from here. Here lies the Tilandi campsite. After taking a rest, we walk forward towards Jhandi Top following a ridge walk. Jhandi top enfolds you the great beauty of Kumaon and garhwal Himalayas and enable you to see the entire Roopkund trail from here. Enjoy the beautiful view from here and proceed towards Brahmataal. The Brahmataal campsite at 12000 ft lies 500 meters aways from the lake.Dont miss the chance of a mesmerizing golden sunset from the campsite to witness the glory of the Himalayas.

Brahmataal to Brahmataal top (12500 ft) and back to Brahmataal ( 6 kms – 5 hours )
Today we take a summit march towards Brahmataal top. Beyond the lake the trail ascends moderately and envelops into a ridge. You will notice Brahmataal lake retiring in the valley below you as you steadily gain altitude. The first redge is a strech of gentle ascent that leads you to the final ridge climb.The final ridge eventually open up to Brahmataal summit top which hows you breathtaking spectacular view of Mt. Trishul, Mt. nanda ghunti, Mt. Kamet, Mt. Choukhamba and Mt. Neelkanth. Many adjoining eaks accompany them to mesmerize you. Spend some time hereat the top immersing in the expeerience before heading back to the campsite.
Over night stay at Tents.
Brahmataal to Lohajung (10 kms – 8 hours)
This is our last day of trek. We get to the Jhandi top ahead to directly descend down to Lohajung village. Further on the trail again the dense oak forest hugs you follwed by the Rhodos. Soon after you will be back on the main trail to Lohajung.
Our transportation will be waiting for you at Lohajung to move you to Wan village. You can explore the Latu devata temple at Wan which has a great mythological value.
Over night stay at guesthouse.
Wan to Rishikesh drive ( 200 kms – 8/9 hours )
Today we embark on our return journey with a mind full of memories to cherish forever.
You will reach Rishikesh by 6 pm. You can plan your onward journey after 7 pm.
*Rishikesh to Lohajung and Wan to Rishikesh transportation in a shared Bolero/Sumo or similar kind of vehicle
* Guest House stay at Lohajung and Wan on sharing basis (3/4 person sharing in a room)
* All meals from Day 1 night till Day 6 Breakfast ( veg + egg). Meals during trek ( Breakfast, Lunch, Evening snacks, Dinner ).
