Marchoi Valley Snow Trek in Kashmir is a beginner friendly winter trek in India. Winter in Kashmir is heaven. Those who wants to start their trekking journey and are not afraid of extreme cold can participate in this trek.
The trek starts and ends from Naranag village in Kashmir which is located nearly 50 kms from Srinagar of Jammu & kashmir state of India. The entire train passes through snow covered meadows and forest overlooking the mountain ranges. The summit view witnesses magnificient Harmukh Peak and surrounding valleys including gangabal Valley, Marchoi Valley, Salani Valley, Wangath Valley.
The best time to do Marchoi Valley Trek is November to January.
The temperature in this trek varies from 0 to 10 degree during day time and 0 to minus 10 degree at night.
The first day of the trek is acclimatization day. We shall pick you up from Srinagar TRC at 2 pm and head towards base camp Naranag which is approximately 50 kms from Srinagar and takes 2 hours of drive. The drive is quiet scenic, the view of surrounding mountains and the Sindh River beside it makes it more pleasurable. You will be welcomed at naranag Homestay with your trek leader, enjoy the Kahwa Tea along ith some snacks. Explore the local village and surroundings before the dinner . Spend the night in a cosy homestay overlooking the forest mountains.
Naranag (6980ft) to Sangri (8200 ft) (5 kms trek, 4 hours)
After a delicious breakfast, we head towards Sangri campsite via Dhumail. The trail starts from ancient temple ruins at naranag, marvel at the stone cut designs of this ancient temple that has a gushing spring alongside it. The trail then goes through medow and forest that gives a startling look of mountain peaks all white in snow. The trail runs beside the Wangath river. It has couple of bridges crossing that look in snow quiet other-worldly with the beauty.
Over night stay at camps.
Sangri (8200 ft) to Marchoi Top (10500 ft) and back to Sangri (8200 ft) ( 8 kms trek, 7 hours)
Today is the summit day. After a scrumptious breakfast, we leave the camps early morning and start ascending towards Marchoi Top. The top gives a panaromic view of enticing Himalayan mountains including Mt. Harmukh, Kotwal Peak, Salnai Valley, Gangabal valley, Wangath valley and Marchoi Valley. Spend some time at the top, live the moments in the snow covered mountains and valley that look astonishing all in white. Capture the moment in pictures and videos to relish in the future. Hear what the legends and the mysths say about these mountains and the valley. Head back to Sangri Campsite.
Overnight stay at camps.
Today is the last day of our trek. We head back to Naranag and leave for Srinagar with a bag full of memories to cherish. You will reach Srinagar by late afternoon around 5 pm. You can book your onward plan accordingly.
